It is a strange year the one that marks yet another milestone for the history of our publishing house.
In 2020, Oikonomiki Epitheorissi, the flagship of the Economia Group, published its 1000th issue.
Oikonomiki Epitheorissi started in 1934 under the name “Viomichaniki Epitheorissis” and with the vision of its founder and publisher, Spryros Vovolinis, to create a Greek media with the word “extroversion” in its heart.
Three decades later, the growing international interest in the Greek economy led to the publication of a Special Supplement to the “Viomichaniki Epitheorissis”, in English. Its first article had the characteristic title “A new leap forward”.
Shortly after, the exclusive collaboration with the British newspaper “Financial Times” came up. It was a decisive moment not only for our magazine, but also for the Greek press.
“Viomichaniki Epitheorissis” was the forerunner of the quarterly financial magazine “Industrial Review Special Survey Series”, which appeared in December 1991.
In the meantime, the important international collaborations were expanding to include “The Economist”.
Renamed “Greek Business File” in 2018, it still remains -30 years after it was first published- the only magazine which includes a variety of articles on financial, banking, shipping and business issues of the Greek economy in English.
The coronavirus pandemic crisis and its overwhelming impact on the global economy leave no mood for celebrations.
These are challenging times for the newspaper and magazine publishing industries.
Greek Business File is up against a difficult exercise: navigate these difficult times without compromising the quality of its content.
Here at the heart of the historic sector of Athens we took a daring decision: face up to the challenge and move forward with renewed vigor.
In 2021, Greek Business File will extend its publication to 6 issues per year, aiming to give international voice to every innovative, extrovert, dynamic actor of the Greek economy and society.
