Michail Bletsas, director of Computing at the MIT Media Lab and an old friend of Economia Group, has been awarded the honorary doctorate of the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication of the University of the Aegean.
The ceremony took place at the Benaki Museum on April 20, along with the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the department and will take place.
M. Bletsas was first introduced to the readers of G. Business File in 2010, by our editor Vanessa Alexakis as the “Internationally-renowned computer wizard” who “talks to Business File about the fast-developing computer and telecoms industries, as well as how Greece can overcome the current financial crisis and emerge stronger in the long-term.”
Six years later, in the November/ December issue of Greek Business File, M. Bletsas writes about “Turning brain drain to brain gain”.
In 2018, M. Bletsas took part at the Economia Group’s session on the topic of “Antidotes Against the Greek Malaise: Quick Wins and Best Practices for Systematic Public Sector’s Reforms”, which was moderated by Antonis Papagiannidis.
At the 4th Delphi Economic Forum, in 2019, M. Bletsas participated at Economia Group’s panel which analyzed the implication of technological progress on the labor market.
In the December 2020 issue of Greek Business File, Michalis Bletsas discussed with Nicholas Negroponte “important questions humankind faced before Covid-19: What happens with the climate, and what is the impact of human-induced change on the planet’s natural balance? Will biotech and Artificial Intelligence prove to be the next Big Things?”
