The North of Greece has seen an increase in tourism this year, according to GTP. The mainland is often overlooked especially during the summer months as the vast majority of tourists opt for the islands. However, recent statistics have shown an upward trend.
Speaking during a recent meeting held at the Halkidiki Chamber with local tourism professionals and state authority representatives, Torusim Minister Elena Kountoura referred to the ministry’s targeted actions to extend the tourism season.
The north-west of Greece has also been boosted with the completion of the new Ionia motorway linking Patras with the city of Ioannina, thus cutting the journey time by half.
