In what was yet another record-breaking year last year in terms of tourism for Greece, research has shown that German tourists/holidaymakers were in abundance. Greece has always been a popular destination for Germans and last year was no different, according to GTP.
According to the Tourism Analysis survey carried out by the BAT Foundation for Future Studies, Greece ranked sixth most preferred destination of German travelers in 2017, the country increased its share to 3.1% from 2.8% in the previous year.
Another example of Germans favouring Greece over other destinations was evident from the online booking company, Traveltainment. Data for January 2018 showed that German holidaymakers are turning away from Spain, which is known to be more of an expensive option, and opting instead for vacations in Turkey, Egypt and Greece.
