Greece’s largest carrier, Aegean Airlines, has reported profits for the second quarter of 2017. Pretax earnings of 23.2 million euros, contributing in the growth of the tourism market and the economy in general.
The latest figures provide a welcome contrast to Q1 and have reduced the carrier’s losses of the first half of the year by 16 percent compared with the same period last year. In the January-June period Aegean saw a 12% year-on-year increase in turnover that reached €450.7m coupled with a rise in passenger numbers. In Q2 alone group revenues amounted to €298.8m.
The results come at a time when the airline is moving ahead to expand its fleet, which is one of the youngest  of the main European airlines.
