The latest poll conducted by the University of Macedonia has shown a clear lead for the main opposition party New Democracy over the deluded hard-left SYRIZA-led government. According to the survey, if a general election were to be held now, ND would win by some margin with 30.5% backing ND compared to 17.5% for SYRIZA.
The other parties fared as follows; Democratic Alignment would get 7.5%, as would the racist neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party, with the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) on 6.5%. The Union of Centrists were 3%, which is the threshold for entering Parliament, while Independent Greeks (ANEL), currently in coalition with SYRIZA, would be on 2% meaning they’d fail to enter parliament.
In addition, 85.5% believe that more austerity lies ahead despite the government’s attempts to talk up apparent progress. As far as being convinced by Alexis Tsipras and Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the figures were 6% and 19.5% respectively.
