Greece and Italy announce further collaboration on tourism
The Greek Tourism Minister, Elena Kountoura and the Ambassador of Italy to Greece, Luigi Marras, met last week to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation between the two countries on tourism issues.
The meeting follows the recent Greece-Italy-High-Level-Cooperation Council, which took place in September in the Ionian island of Corfu. It was at that event that the proposal of restarting the Greece-Italy Joint Tourism Committee was suggested in an attempt to strengthen bilateral tourism activities between the the two.
Further growth in the sector for both countries in recent times has prompted further collaboration amid the potential for further positive results over the next few years and promoting both EU countries natural and rich cultural features is high on the agenda.
The recent events culminated in the signing of a memorandum of cooperation on culture, which was signed by Italy’s minister for cultural heritage, activities and tourism, Dario Francescini, and his Greek counterpart, Lydia Koniordou, Greek culture minister.
