Aegean Airlines, Greece’s largest carrier, announced a 6% increase in passenger traffic for 2017. The positive figure comes on the back of yet another record in the tourism sector, which saw Athens International Airport surpass the 20m mark.
Aegean, a member of the Star Alliance group, has also announced several new routes from Athens to destinations such as Basel, Palermo and Malaga among others. It is also expanding its fleet, which is one of the youngest of the major European airlines. While the majority of its aircraft are Airbus, they have also made orders from Boeing.
The airline’s continued improvement has been recognised with several ‘best airline’ awards and is ranked in the top-20 globally in terms of punctuality.
