There will be direct links between the Ionian Islands beginning in May this year, according to GTP. While there have been direct links between many islands located in the Aegean Sea, such as the Cyclades, this has surprisingly not been the case with the Ionian Islands up until now.
The new ferry line, which will be operated by Illida Paxos Hydrofoil, will connect Corfu with Paxi, Lefkada, Ithaki, Kefalonia and Zakynthos three times a week. The new services have been in demand for years and will be a relief for locals. It will also boost tourism by making it much easier to get around the islands.
While the Ionian Islands have always been easily accessible by ferry via the western coast of the mainland, this will be the first time that interconnecting services are on offer.
