The latest poll conducted has shown that the main opposition party New Democracy (ND) continues to lead SYRIZA. With the next general election due to be held next year, the latest figures will be welcomed by ND leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has been under pressure on many fronts in recent months.
The Kapa Research poll showed 21.6% of saying they would vote for the conservative party if elections were held now, against 17.2% who voiced support for the hard-left SYRIZA.
Independent Greeks, the coalition government’s partner, would not make it into Parliament if elections were held now, according to the poll, as only 2.3% would vote for the nationalist party.
