The New York City Greek film festival (NYCGFF) has appointed Maria Tzompanaki as its new director, the Hellenic American Chamber of Commerce (HACC) announced last week.
Tzompanaki, Cultural Ambassador of the region of Crete, is an accomplished actress and director from Chania, Crete with a global track record of contributions in the arts as well as the preservation and Greek culture. She served as deputy mayor of Athens from 2002 for two consecutive terms.
The New York City Greek Film Festival is funded by supporters from the business, public service, and private sectors. HACC is an independent US organisation that serves the Greek community both in the US and Greece.
