25th economia STUDENT CONTEST




For the 25th consecutive year, economia Group and the Greek economic magazine Οikonomiki Epitheorisi are organizing the 25th economia Student Contest, a contest which has become a tradition both for us and for the students of public and private universities in Greece and abroad.


Our vision is to make this contest an inspiring platform of youth development and expression of new ideas in tune with the challenges of our time.


Οur goals are to a) encourage young people to connect their academic knowledge with current affairs b) to increase networking exchanges between the young generation and leading companies of various sectors of the economy c) to give the opportunity to the participants to win important prizes.


The theme of the 25th Economia Student Contest is:



“EUROPEAN UNION: THE ROAD AHEAD for Development, Employment & Education”*



The essay should be maximum 2,000 words and the deadline for submissions is March 31st, 2019.


The essays will be graded by the Evaluation Committee, which is composed by the following members:


  • George Pagoulatos, Professor of European Politics and Economy at the Athens University of Economics and Business
  • Akis Skertsos, Director General of Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV)
  • Marco Veremis, Co-founder and Executive Chairman of the Board, Upstream S.A.
  • Vasilis Koutentakis, Executive General Manager Retail Banking & Distribution Networks, Piraeus Bank

& Antonis D. Papagiannidis, General Manager of economia Group who will have the role of Special Advisor to the Evaluation Committee

During the Contest a free mentoring session will take place at EcoZone, 6-8 Vlahava Str., 10551 Athens.


Major prizes will be given to the winners at the award ceremony, which will take place at the end of May 2019.



*Indicative but not restrictive approaches to the theme are the following: legal, financial & sociopolitical. Preference will be given to interdisciplinary approaches.
